Hamid Reza Kasikhan, is the PhD. holder in English Language & Literature who has been the member of faculty in IAU at Shahr-e-Rey since 1997. He has been the head of the English department for two successive years.

The present book entitled *Basic English for University Students* consists of fifteen lessons. Each lesson attempts to provide a passage enabling to provoke critical thinking and advances basic grammatical points on pre-intermediate level. It attempts to remind students the structural points they had studied years ago and have now forgotten them in the passage of time.

The easy-to-use format gives vocabulary explanations in the section of glossary for the words marked by asterisk. Various exercises on word derivations and their meanings in various contexts develop students' range of vocabulary and help them learn strategies for learning new words. Moreover, the relevant illustrations at the beginning of each unit and the appendix at the end of the book have made it more advantageous and useful.
