Guidance School Readers include a series of graded readers at three levels for young learners of English. The language follows the syllabus of guidance school books but the stories can be used independently.

General guidelines

Teaching young learners of English is not easy, but it is certainly challenging and can be extremely rewarding.

Guidance School Readers provide students with the opportunity to learn English in an enjoyable and challenging way.

Aims and syllabus

The main aims of this book are to:

·         Produce good language habits so that the students use English correctly.

·         Make learning fun through likeable characters, colourful pictures, games and exercises.

·         Help students develop confidence in reading and speaking in English, using good basic range of vocabulary.

·         Encourage students to work individually.

·         The syllabus of this book is based on graded structures and vocabulary. Through interesting stories Guidance School English Readers systematically develop student’s motivation and skills in reading and Speaking.

Presentation

Teach new words by showing real objects, by drawing simple pictures on the board, or by mime and gesture. Only use the student’s mother tongue to translate words when other methods of explanation are impossible. Whenever a new word is introduced, make sure that students know how to pronounce it clearly.
